The Australian Pelican spends most of its time on rivers, lakes, inland seas and coastal waters with the Australian Pelican particularly choosing to spend its time in freshwater, estuarine and marine wetlands and waterways including lagoons, lakes, swamps, rivers, coastal islands and shorelines. They are highly mobile, capable fliers able to reach considerable heights, searching for suitable areas of water and an adequate supply of food.
